Facebook Messenger Payment Links That Confirm When Paid

By Alva Chew 5 min read Updated October 30, 2026

A Messenger payment link lets a customer pay for what they just agreed in the chat with your Facebook Page, without leaving the conversation to find a checkout. AeroChat creates the link for the exact amount through Airwallex, Stripe or HitPay, waits for the payment to complete, then confirms the order, booking or fee and updates your store, sheet or booking system.

What happens today

A customer agrees to buy in Messenger. Someone creates a payment link by hand, pastes it in, and later checks the payment dashboard to see whether it was paid.

Then they update the order or booking, and message the customer to confirm. Links get sent for the wrong amount, paid links get missed, and if the confirmation comes more than 24 hours after the customer’s last message, the Page can no longer send it automatically.

How it runs on Messenger

  1. The customer chooses what they want: products, a booking, a class or a fee.
  2. AeroChat reads the price from your catalogue, store, sheet or price list and confirms the total with the customer.
  3. It asks for the email for the receipt, since Messenger does not pass it.
  4. It creates a payment link for that amount and currency with your payment provider and sends it in the chat.
  5. It checks the payment status with the provider and only treats the link as paid when the provider reports it completed.
  6. It writes back: creates or marks the order as paid in your store or sheet, or confirms the booking, and adds the payment reference.
  7. It confirms to the customer in the same chat, with the order or booking details.
  8. If the payment fails twice, the customer asks for a discount you have not set, or wants to pay another way, it hands the conversation to your team.

The recipe

Copy this into AeroChat

When a customer is ready to buy, follow these steps.

  1. Read the prices from our product sheet (example) and list what they chose with the total, including delivery of 8 (example).
  2. Ask them to confirm the total and give the email for their receipt.
  3. Create a payment link for that exact amount and send it with the line: “You can pay here. I’ll confirm as soon as it goes through.”
  4. When the payment is completed, add the order to our orders sheet with status Paid, the email and the payment reference, and send them the order summary.
  5. If they ask whether their payment went through, check the payment status and tell them. If the link expired, send a new one.
  6. If the payment fails twice, or they want to pay by bank transfer, hand the conversation to our sales team.

Never change a price or give a discount that is not in our sheet. Reply in the customer’s language.

Connect the systems behind it

  • Stripe: creates a checkout link for the amount and reports when it is paid.
  • HitPay: creates a payment request and checkout link, and confirms completion before AeroChat marks anything paid.
  • Google Sheets: holds the prices AeroChat quotes and receives each paid order as a new row.
  • Airwallex, Shopify and Google Calendar. Airwallex payment links are built in. Shopify orders are built in. Google Calendar connects by linking a Google account, for bookings that are paid in the chat.

Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

Meta’s rules on Messenger

Your Page can reply within 24 hours of the customer’s last message, so the link and the confirmation go while the customer is in the chat. Replies typed by a person on your team have a separate 7-day window, which automated replies cannot use. If the customer came from a click-to-Messenger ad, you can reply for up to 7 days from their first message. Meta expects automated replies within 30 seconds, or it can limit your messaging. Taking the email at checkout means the receipt still reaches the customer if they pay after the window has closed.

Also on WhatsApp, TikTok and web chat

The same workflow runs on WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok (DMs and TikTok Shop buyer chat), Telegram, web chat and email, with the same prices and the same payment provider behind it.

Who uses it

Payment links in chat work for any business that agrees a sale in conversation. See how tuition centres take enrolment fees, how restaurants and caterers take event deposits, and how spas take booking deposits.

Questions

Can I accept payments in Facebook Messenger?

Yes, by sending a payment link in the chat. The customer pays on your provider’s checkout page and comes back to the chat for the confirmation. The money goes to your own Airwallex, Stripe or HitPay account.

Does AeroChat see or hold the payment?

No. AeroChat never sees card numbers and never holds your funds. It creates the link and reads the payment status from your provider.

Which plan do I need?

Workflows via Skills are on every plan, Free included. Built-in payment links come with Growth, which has 2,000 AI responses and 10 seats, and with Advanced, which has 5,000 AI responses and 25 seats. Starter has 500 AI responses and 3 seats.

What if the customer pays after the Messenger window closes?

The payment still goes through and AeroChat still updates your records. Your payment provider’s receipt goes to the email they gave, and the chat confirmation follows as soon as they message again.
