Instagram Payment Links That Confirm the Order When Paid
Payment links in Instagram DMs let a customer pay for what they just agreed in the chat, without hunting for a checkout. AeroChat creates the link for the exact amount through Airwallex, Stripe or HitPay, checks that the payment completed, then confirms the order, booking or fee and updates your store, sheet or booking system.
What happens today
Many small sellers close sales in Instagram DMs. The customer says “I’ll take it”, and someone creates a payment link or sends bank details by hand, then checks later whether the money arrived.
Then they update the order sheet and message the customer to confirm. Links go out for the wrong amount, payments get missed, and some customers never pay because the link came hours after they said yes.
How it runs on Instagram
- The customer chooses what they want in the DM: products, a booking, a class or a fee.
- AeroChat reads the price from your store, sheet or price list and confirms the total, including delivery.
- It asks for the delivery address and an email or phone number where the order needs them.
- It creates a payment link for that amount and currency with your payment provider and sends it in the DM.
- It checks the payment status with the provider and only treats the link as paid when the provider reports it completed.
- It writes back: creates the order or marks it paid in your store or sheet, or confirms the booking, with the payment reference.
- It confirms to the customer in the same DM. If the payment fails twice or the customer wants to pay another way, it hands the conversation to your team.
The recipe
Copy this into AeroChat
When a customer on Instagram is ready to buy, follow these steps.
- Read the prices from our product sheet (example) and list what they chose with the total, including delivery of 8 (example).
- Ask for their name, delivery address and email.
- Ask them to confirm the total.
- Create a payment link for that exact amount and send it with the line: “You can pay here. I’ll confirm as soon as it goes through.”
- When the payment is completed, add the order to our Orders sheet with status Paid, their Instagram handle and the payment reference, and send them the order summary.
- If they ask whether their payment went through, check the payment status and tell them. If the link expired, send a new one.
- If the payment fails twice, or they want to pay by bank transfer, hand the conversation to our sales team.
Never change a price or give a discount that is not in our sheet. Reply in the customer’s language.
Point the recipe at wherever your prices live: Shopify, a Google Sheet, or a price list in your knowledge base.
Connect the systems behind it
- Stripe: creates a checkout link for the amount and reports when it is paid.
- HitPay: creates a payment request and checkout link, and confirms completion before AeroChat marks anything paid.
- Google Sheets: holds the prices AeroChat quotes and receives each paid order as a new row.
- Airwallex, Shopify and Google Calendar. Airwallex payment links are built in. Shopify orders are built in. Google Calendar connects by linking a Google account, for bookings that are paid in the chat.
Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

Meta’s rules on Instagram
A business can message someone on Instagram only after they message first, and automated replies must go within 24 hours of their last message. Send the link while the customer is in the chat, and the payment confirmation usually lands inside the same window. A person on your team can follow up by hand within a separate 7-day window, which is not for automated replies. After a click-to-Instagram-Direct ad, you can reply for up to 7 days from the customer’s first message.
Also on WhatsApp, TikTok and web chat
The same workflow runs on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, TikTok (direct messages and TikTok Shop buyer chat), Telegram, web chat and email, with the same prices and the same payment provider behind it.
Who uses it
Payment links in chat work for any business that agrees a sale in conversation. See how spas take booking deposits, how tuition centres take enrolment fees, and how fashion stores sell in chat.

Questions
Can I take payments in Instagram DMs?
Yes, by sending a payment link in the DM. The customer pays on your provider’s checkout page and comes back to the chat for the confirmation. The money goes to your own Airwallex, Stripe or HitPay account.
Does AeroChat see or hold the payment?
No. AeroChat never sees card numbers and never holds your funds. It creates the link and reads the payment status from your provider.
What if the customer pays a day later?
AeroChat records the payment when the provider reports it. If the customer messages again, it confirms the order in the reply. Automated messages on Instagram can only go within 24 hours of the customer’s last message.
Which plan do I need?
