WhatsApp Green Tick: How to Get the Blue Checkmark

By Alva Chew 4 min read Updated October 31, 2026

The WhatsApp green tick is now a blue checkmark. Meta calls it an Official Business Account, and it shows next to your business name in chats. You request it in WhatsApp Manager once your number has been registered for 30 days or more, your business portfolio is verified, two-step verification is on and your display name is approved.

Green tick or blue checkmark?

People still search for the WhatsApp green tick, because that is what the badge used to look like. Today the badge is a blue checkmark next to the business name. It is the same idea: WhatsApp has checked that the account belongs to the business it says it does.

Meta’s name for an account with the badge is an Official Business Account. When you read about the green tick, the blue checkmark or an Official Business Account, they all mean this badge.

Meta’s documentation states no cost for the badge.

How to request the blue checkmark

  1. Complete business verification for your business portfolio in Meta’s business settings.
  2. Make sure your display name is approved and matches how customers know your business.
  3. Switch on two-step verification for the phone number.
  4. Wait until the number has been registered for at least 30 days.
  5. In WhatsApp Manager, open Profile, then Official business account, and submit the request.
  6. If the request is denied, fix what you can, then wait 30 days before you request again.

Business verification is worth doing anyway

Business verification is one of the badge requirements, and it helps you even if the badge never comes. Once your portfolio is verified, your messaging limit path starts at 2,000 business-initiated messages to unique customers in a rolling 24 hours, up from 250. You can also register up to 20 phone numbers instead of 2.

A verified business with an approved display name can also hold up to 6,000 message templates, against 250 when unverified.

What this means for your business

The badge helps customers trust that a chat is really you, which matters most for brands that get copied or that send payment links.

Business verification does change what you can do. It raises how many customers you can message first in a rolling 24 hours, and how many numbers and templates you can hold. Do it early, before you plan any broadcast or reminder campaign.

If your request is denied, the 30-day wait is the real cost. Check every requirement before you submit, so you only wait once.

How AeroChat handles it

The badge sits on your WhatsApp account, so you request it in WhatsApp Manager whichever software you use. AeroChat connects the same number through embedded signup,, so the badge stays on the account that answers your customers.

What customers see after the name is the conversation itself. AeroChat answers from your own systems, for example order tracking from your store data and payment links in the chat. Bookings run against tools such as Calendly and Google Calendar, and your team can take over through human handover at any point.
