Beauty Product Recommendations by Skin Type in Chat
This recipe answers “which one for me”. It asks the shopper’s skin type, main concern and budget, filters your Shopify catalogue by the tags you set, and recommends up to three products with a line on why each fits. It answers only from your product data, and it hands anything about a skin condition or pregnancy to a person. Part of the beauty store workflows.
What happens today
A shopper replies to your Instagram story at 11pm: “combination skin, a bit oily on the T-zone, also sensitive, which moisturiser?”. The person who knows the range is asleep. In the morning someone replies with your best seller, which has fragrance in it. The shopper asks a follow-up, waits again, and buys from the store that answered first.
A good beauty recommendation is a filter over your product attributes. If your products carry those attributes, a conversation can narrow fifty products to three and explain why.
The flow that works
- The shopper asks for a recommendation. AeroChat asks skin type, main concern, budget and any ingredient they avoid, only for what is missing.
- It filters your products by the tags you set: skin type, concern, texture, key ingredients and “free from” labels.
- It keeps only products in stock and within budget.
- It recommends up to three, each with one line on why it fits, drawn from the product’s own description and ingredient list.
- If the shopper mentions a skin condition, a treatment they are on, pregnancy or breastfeeding, it shares only the published facts and passes the conversation to a person.

When a customer asks which product suits them, follow these steps.
- Ask their skin type (oily, dry, combination, normal or sensitive), their main concern, their budget, and any ingredient they avoid, such as fragrance or alcohol. Ask only for what they have not said, one or two questions at a time.
- Search our products using the tags on each product for skin type, concern, texture, key ingredients and free-from labels. Keep only products in stock and within their budget.
- Recommend up to three products. For each, give the name, price and one line on why it fits, using only the product’s description and ingredient list. Send the product link.
- If they ask how to use a product or what to layer it with, answer from the product’s directions and any routine guide in our knowledge base.
- If they mention a skin condition such as eczema, acne treatment from a doctor, rosacea or a rash, or pregnancy, breastfeeding or medication, do not recommend or advise. Share only the ingredient list if they ask for it, say our team will reply, and hand the conversation to a person.
Never say a product treats, cures, clears, heals or prevents anything. Never compare our products with another brand’s. Only recommend products in our catalogue. Reply in the customer’s language.
Change the tag names to the ones your store uses before you paste it.
What to connect
- Shopify. Built in. The AeroChat app syncs products, prices, tags and stock.
- Product tags. Tag each product by skin type, concern, texture, key ingredients and free-from labels. For most stores this is a few days of work, and it improves your site filters as well. Without tags, any system answers from marketing copy.
- Your knowledge base. A routine guide if you have one, and your sourcing and authenticity statement.
- Your channels. Instagram direct messages and comments, TikTok direct messages and TikTok Shop buyer chat, WhatsApp and web chat.
Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.
Can’t find your tool? Message us in the chat on this page and we’ll tell you how it connects.
What you still decide
- Your tags, and which products carry them.
- The list of conditions and situations that always go to a person.
- Whether to offer a sample or a discount code, and the limit.
AeroChat recommends only from your catalogue and your wording. See AI hallucination.
The result to expect
Shoppers asking “which one for me” get three suitable products while they are still deciding, at any hour. The answer is consistent, and it stays inside what you are allowed to claim. Health questions reach your team instead of getting a guess.
Measure it with your own numbers: orders from recommendation conversations, and how many conversations were handed over, for a month before and after.
Next: ingredient and skin questions.
Ask it what you would recommend
Install the app, paste the recipe and ask what suits oily, acne-prone skin under your average price. Then say you are pregnant and check it hands the question to you.
