Send WhatsApp Enquiries to Fergus

By Alva Chew 4 min read Updated October 30, 2026

This recipe makes sure every request for work in chat ends up in Fergus as an enquiry, with the site address and a clear description of the job. Part of connecting Fergus to WhatsApp and AI chat.

What happens today

A homeowner sends a photo of a leaking tap and asks if someone can come this week. The owner sees it on a roof, replies that evening, and asks for the address. The enquiry reaches Fergus a day later, if it gets there at all, and by then the homeowner has called someone else.

The flow that works

  1. AeroChat answers the customer’s question first from your knowledge base.
  2. It asks what work they need, the site address and the best time to call.
  3. It creates an enquiry in Fergus with the contact details, the site and the work.
  4. It notes the channel and any photos the customer described.
  5. It tells the customer when your office will call, and passes urgent jobs to a person.

The recipe

Copy this into AeroChat

When someone asks for a tradesperson, a quote or a repair, answer their question first from our knowledge base. Then follow these steps.

  1. Ask what work they need and how urgent it is. If they send a photo, describe what you see and ask them to confirm.
  2. Ask for the site address and whether they own the property or rent it.
  3. Ask for their name, email and the best day and time to call, if we do not have them. Use the phone number they are messaging from.
  4. Create an enquiry in Fergus with their name, phone, email, the site address and a short description of the work. Include the best time to call, whether they own or rent, and the channel they used.
  5. Tell them our office will call within one working day (example) to arrange a visit or a quote.
  6. If they report water through a ceiling, sparks, a burning smell or no power, tell them to turn off the water or power at the main if it is safe, and hand the conversation to our on-call person at once.

Never promise a time or quote a price for the job. Reply in the customer’s language.

Change the questions, the reply time and the urgent problems to your own before you paste it.

What to connect

  • Fergus. An Admin or Full User generates a personal access token in Settings, then Integrations, then Fergus API. Paste it in when AeroChat asks. AeroChat creates enquiries.
  • Your knowledge base. Upload your services, service areas and call-out terms, so AeroChat can answer before it asks for details.

After you paste the recipe, AeroChat builds the workflow as a draft and shows a checklist: connect Fergus, add your knowledge base if the recipe uses one, then switch it on. If it built the connection from Fergus’s public documentation, the checklist asks you to check it once against the current docs.

Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

Can’t find your tool? Message us in the chat on this page and we’ll tell you how it connects.

What you still decide

  • Which questions AeroChat asks for each type of work.
  • Which jobs count as urgent and who gets them.
  • How fast your office calls back.

The result to expect

Every request for work is a Fergus enquiry with the site and a clear description before you get off the tools. Your office turns enquiries into jobs instead of chasing details, and you can see how much work chat brings in.

Measure it with your own numbers: enquiries created from chat, and enquiries that became jobs, for a month before and after.

Next: answer quote and job questions in chat.

Works on every chat channel

This workflow runs the same way on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, the chat on your website and email, with the same Fergus connection behind it. See what each channel does on the Fergus integration page.
