Answer Salon Price and Service Questions on WhatsApp and Instagram

By Alva Chew 5 min read Updated October 24, 2026

This recipe answers price and service questions from your own price list, in direct messages and in replies to comments on your Instagram and Facebook posts. Fixed-price services are quoted outright. Services that depend on the hair get a starting price and what changes it, and the client is offered a booking or a consultation. Part of the hair and beauty salon workflows.

What happens today

You post a balayage result on Instagram. By evening there are nine comments saying “price?” and six direct messages asking the same. A stylist replies to a few between clients, and the rest get an answer the next day. Some of those people have already booked with the salon that answered first.

It is tempting to avoid quoting colour work in writing, because the final price depends on the hair. A starting price with a clear reason solves that.

The flow that works

  1. A client asks about a service, in a message or a comment. For a comment, AeroChat replies under the post and invites the person to a direct message.
  2. It finds the service in your price list. If the name is unclear, for example “do highlight” or “straighten hair”, it matches it to the right service or asks one question.
  3. For fixed-price services, such as a cut, a wash and blow-dry or a roots touch-up, it gives the price, and the stylist-level price if you charge by level.
  4. For variable services, such as balayage, full colour, colour correction, rebonding or keratin, it gives the starting price and what changes it: hair length, thickness, current colour and how light they want to go.
  5. It offers to book, or offers a consultation for colour correction and other services that always need one.

When a client asks about a service or its price, follow these steps.

  1. If the question is a comment on our Instagram or Facebook post, reply under the comment with a short answer and invite them to send us a message for details and booking. Do not post prices for variable services in a public comment, only the starting price.
  2. Find the service in our price list. Clients may use informal names, for example “highlight” for foils, “straighten” for rebonding, or “treatment” for scalp or hair treatments. If you cannot tell which service they mean, ask one short question.
  3. If the service has a fixed price, give it. If we charge by stylist level, give the price for each level.
  4. If the service is marked as variable, give the starting price and say the final price depends on hair length, thickness, the colour already on their hair and how light they want to go, and that the stylist confirms the price before starting. For example: “Balayage starts from US$220 (example price). Your stylist confirms the final price at the consultation.”
  5. If the service is marked as consultation first, such as colour correction, offer a free consultation slot instead of a price range.
  6. Say how long the service takes, and offer to book. If they say yes, start the booking.

Never give a discount or a price that is not on our price list. If they send a photo and ask whether we can do that look, follow our colour consultation instructions. Reply in the client’s language.

Replace the example price with your own, and mark each service in your price list as fixed, variable or consultation first before you paste it.

What to connect

  • Your price list. Upload it to the AeroChat knowledge base, with each service marked fixed, variable with a starting price, or consultation first. Add prices by stylist level if you use them.
  • Common names. Add the informal names clients use, in every language your clients write in.
  • Instagram and Facebook. Connect your accounts so AeroChat can reply to comments on your posts as well as direct messages.
  • Booking. If the stylist booking workflow is set up with your salon software, a price question that ends in “ok, book me in” moves straight into it.

Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

Can’t find your tool? Message us in the chat on this page and we’ll tell you how it connects.

What you still decide

  • Which services are fixed, variable or consultation first.
  • The starting price for each variable service.
  • Whether promotions appear in replies, and their conditions.
  • What AeroChat may say in a public comment.

AeroChat quotes only what is in the price list you upload. A client who pushes for a lower price is told the prices on the list.

The result to expect

Comments and messages asking “price?” get an answer while the person is still looking at your post, and many turn into a booking in the same conversation. Stylists stop typing the same balayage answer between clients. Clients arrive with a realistic idea of cost, which makes the consultation easier.

Measure it with your own numbers: price enquiries that end in a booking, for a month before and after you start.

Next: colour consultation handover. See also conversational selling through Instagram DMs.
