Connect ActiveCampaign to WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and AI Chat
Customers and subscribers message you on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, web chat or email, but your marketing list lives in ActiveCampaign. AeroChat answers those conversations and works with ActiveCampaign as it goes. It checks whether someone is subscribed and what they signed up for, and it adds or updates them with their consent, records their interests and unsubscribes them when they ask. It connects through ActiveCampaign’s public API. You describe the workflow in your own words, and AeroChat builds it.
What you can do with ActiveCampaign and AeroChat
- Add chat contacts to your list with consent. When someone agrees in chat to hear from you, AeroChat adds or updates them in ActiveCampaign with a record of how and when they agreed. Nobody is added without a yes.
- Answer subscription questions and unsubscribe on request. AeroChat checks the subscriber in ActiveCampaign, tells them what they are signed up for, and unsubscribes them or narrows what they get when they ask.
- Recognise returning contacts. AeroChat looks up the contact by email and uses what ActiveCampaign already knows, such as their tags and their last order from a connected store.
- Tag contacts by interest. When someone asks about a service or product line, AeroChat adds the matching tag, which can start an automation you built.
- Log the conversation and open a deal. AeroChat adds a note to the contact and, for a sales enquiry, creates a deal in the right pipeline stage.

How the connection works
AeroChat connects through ActiveCampaign’s public API. It reads and writes contacts, custom fields, lists and each contact’s status on them, tags, notes, deals, and the ecommerce orders of a connected store. Each workflow uses only what its recipe asks for. AeroChat adds someone to a marketing list only after they agree in the conversation.
To connect, an admin opens Settings, Developer in ActiveCampaign and copies the account’s API URL and API key. ActiveCampaign’s API reference explains both. Paste them into the AeroChat dashboard when AeroChat asks.
You describe the workflow in your own words. AeroChat builds it as a draft, works out which ActiveCampaign calls it needs, and asks you to connect. Keys and credentials are entered in the AeroChat dashboard and never pass through the conversation.

When someone in chat says they want to hear about offers or new services, ask for their email and confirm they agree to receive marketing emails from us. Only if they say yes, create or update their contact in ActiveCampaign with their first name and email, subscribe them to our Newsletter list (example), and add the tag source-chat. If they say no, carry on helping and subscribe nothing.
Copy this into AeroChat
When someone asks about a service or product line, find their contact in ActiveCampaign by email. Add a tag for that interest, such as interest-corporate-gifts (example). Add a note to the contact with a two-line summary of what they asked. If they ask for a quote, create a deal in our Sales pipeline (example) at the New enquiry stage (example). Do not change their list status. Reply in the customer’s language.

What stays in ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign stays your record. Your contacts, lists, tags, automations, campaigns, deals and reporting live there, and your team still builds the automations and sends the campaigns.
AeroChat handles the conversation. It reads and updates the subscriber records your recipe asks for and leaves the rest to ActiveCampaign and your team.

Questions
Does AeroChat work with ActiveCampaign?
Yes. AeroChat connects through ActiveCampaign’s public API with the API URL and key from Settings, Developer in ActiveCampaign.
Can WhatsApp contacts join my ActiveCampaign list?
Yes, when they agree in the chat. AeroChat asks first, and only adds them to your list in ActiveCampaign after a clear yes. If they say no, it carries on helping and adds nothing.
Do I need a developer?
No. You describe the workflow in your own words, copy the API URL and key from ActiveCampaign and paste them in, and switch it on. AeroChat builds the ActiveCampaign connection from your description and shows a checklist of what is left to do.
