Answer Size and Fit Questions From Your Own Size Charts
This recipe answers “which size should I take” from the size chart and fit notes on each product in your Shopify store. It asks for the shopper’s measurements, recommends one size with the reason, checks that size is in stock and sends the link. If a product has no chart, it says so and passes the question to a person. Part of the fashion store workflows.
What happens today
A shopper sees your new linen set on Instagram at 11pm and writes “im 1.60m 52kg, usually S in uniqlo, S or M?”. Nobody replies until the next afternoon. By then she has bought something else, or she guesses, orders the S, finds it tight across the shoulders and asks to return it. A return costs you shipping twice and a sale.
The answer is usually already on the product page. A busy team member reading it at speed is where the wrong sizes come from.
The flow that works
- The shopper asks about size. AeroChat works out which product they mean, from the post they replied to or the link they sent.
- It asks for height, weight and their usual size, only if they have not said.
- It reads that product’s size chart, fit note and fabric, and recommends one size with a short reason.
- It checks stock for that size in the colour they want, and offers the nearest variant if it has sold out.
- It sends the product link. If the product has no chart, or the shopper is between sizes on a fitted item, it offers a person.
The recipe

When a shopper asks which size to buy, follow these steps.
- Confirm which product they mean. If they replied to a post or sent a link, use that product. If not, ask.
- Ask for their height, weight and the size they usually wear, if they have not said. For bottoms, also ask for their waist measurement if they know it.
- Read the size chart, the fit note and the fabric for that exact product. Recommend one size and give the reason in one or two lines, for example: “For 1.60m and 52kg the S fits, but this top runs slim in the shoulders, so take the M if you prefer it loose.”
- If the fabric has no stretch, say so. If the product has a fit note such as “runs small” or “oversized”, mention it.
- Check stock for the recommended size in the colour they want. If it is sold out, say so and offer the closest variant in stock, such as the same size in another colour.
- Send the product link.
- If the product has no size chart, say that we do not have measurements for this item and offer to pass the question to our team. Do not estimate.
Never promise a fit. Never recommend a size the chart does not support. Mention our exchange policy only if they ask what happens if it does not fit. Reply in the customer’s language.
Change the questions to match how you size, for example bust and hip for dresses, before you paste it.
What to connect
- Shopify. Built in. Install the AeroChat app and it syncs your products, variants and stock.
- Size charts and fit notes on each product. Put the chart and a one-line fit note in the product description or a product field. A general size guide in the knowledge base helps, but the product’s own chart is what makes the answer right.
- Your channels. Instagram, including replies to comments, WhatsApp and web chat. A comment saying “size?” on a post opens a conversation with the shopper.
Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

What you still decide
- Which measurements to ask for, by product type.
- The fit note on each product. Your team knows which styles run small.
- Whether fitted items such as bridesmaid dresses always go to a person.
AeroChat answers from your charts and notes as written. It does not invent a measurement. See AI hallucination.
The result to expect
Size questions get an answer while the shopper is still looking at the item. The answer is the same every time, because it comes from the chart. Products with no chart show up quickly as handovers, which tells you which listings to fix.
Measure it with your own numbers: returns marked “wrong size” for a month before and after, and the share of size conversations that end in an order.
Next: returns and exchanges and stock and restock questions.
Test it on your best seller
Install the app, paste the recipe and ask about your best-selling dress the way a shopper would. You will see whether your size charts are good enough before any customer does.
