Fashion Store Workflows to Automate, Ranked

By Alva Chew 5 min read Updated October 24, 2026

These are the six conversations an online fashion store should automate first, ranked by how much time or revenue each one recovers. The ranking assumes a Shopify store selling at home and abroad, with most questions arriving on Instagram and WhatsApp, a small team that also packs orders, and regular drops or sales. Each one links to a recipe page with a description you can paste into AeroChat, what to connect and what you still decide.

For the message mix, the data and plan sizing, see the fashion stores overview.

The ranking at a glance

Rank Workflow What it recovers Why it ranks here
1 Order tracking Team time on the most repeated question “Where is my order” is the highest-volume message after a sale, and the answer is already in Shopify
2 Size and fit questions Orders from shoppers who ask before buying, and returns avoided The question that comes one tap before checkout
3 Returns and exchanges Team time, and revenue kept as exchanges instead of refunds Every wrong size ends here, and an exchange keeps the sale
4 Product recommendations Revenue from shoppers who know the occasion but not the item Answered while the shopper is still on your post or your site
5 Stock and restock questions Sales on sold-out variants that would otherwise be lost Spikes in drop and sale weeks, and needs live stock to answer
6 Abandoned cart follow-up Revenue from checkouts that stalled on a question About 70% of online carts are abandoned (Baymard Institute)

The six workflows

1. Answer “where is my order” from Shopify

A customer writes “order 1042 when will it arrive”. AeroChat checks their email or phone number against the order, reads the status and tracking from Shopify, and replies with where the parcel is and the tracking link. Late or lost parcels go to your team with the order attached.

2. Recommend a size from the product’s own chart

“Im 1.60m 52kg, S or M?” AeroChat reads the size chart and fit note for that exact product, recommends one size with the reason, and checks the size is in stock. If the product has no chart, it says so and passes the question to a person instead of guessing.

3. Handle returns and exchanges within your policy

AeroChat checks the order date against your return window, offers an exchange for another size first, and explains how to send the item back. Damaged items, wrong items and anything outside the window go to your team. Approved returns are opened as return requests on the order in Shopify, so your team approves them where the order already lives.

4. Recommend products for an occasion

“Need something for a wedding dinner, not too formal, below US$60.” AeroChat filters your Shopify catalogue by tags, price and stock, suggests up to three items with a line on why each fits, and sends the links. It can suggest what to pair them with from items you have tagged to go together.

5. Answer stock questions and take restock requests

“Do you have the black in S?” needs a live answer. AeroChat checks stock for that variant, offers the nearest variant in stock if it has gone, and gives a restock date only if you have listed one. Shoppers who want to hear when it is back go on a list in your Google Sheet, which you message with a WhatsApp broadcast when the stock lands.

6. Follow up on stalled checkouts

Many carts stall on one unanswered question: the shipping cost to another country, delivery before the weekend, or whether a size runs small. AeroChat answers it in the chat and sends the product link. Shopify’s own abandoned checkout email can invite the shopper to reply on WhatsApp, and AeroChat handles that reply.

What they connect to

  • Shopify, built in, for products, variants, stock, orders, tracking, return requests, shipping rates and discount codes. Used by every workflow.
  • A Google Sheet for the restock list, used by workflow 5. Connect your Google account and approve the access.
  • Your knowledge base for size guides, return and exchange policy, delivery times and restock dates.
  • WhatsApp broadcasts, from the Growth plan, for restock and sale messages to customers who asked for them.
  • AeroChat’s own handover, tags and team notifications for complaints and every exception.

Using a different system? If it has a public API, it connects to AeroChat the same way: describe what you want, paste in its key, and it runs.

What stays with your team

  • Damaged or wrong items, and lost parcels.
  • Returns outside your window, and every refund decision.
  • Any discount above the limit you set.
  • Complaints, and customers who are upset.
  • Fit questions on products with no size chart.

Each recipe hands these over with the order details collected, so your team picks up the conversation without asking the customer to repeat themselves.

How they fit together

Order lookup is the base. Tracking, returns and exchanges all start by finding the customer’s order in Shopify, so they reuse the same check of email or phone number. Size, recommendations and stock all read the same product data, so the better your size charts and tags are, the better all three answer. Abandoned cart follow-up reuses the size and stock answers in a different moment.

You can paste the recipes one at a time. When you paste the second, AeroChat sees what you already have and adds to it rather than building a duplicate.
